Do you know someone who upholds Mandela's values?

Nal’ibali is looking for all individuals and organisations who uphold Nelson Mandela’s values on education. This year marks what would have been former president Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday. His legacy still lives on and we’d like to celebrate it with you! Nelson Mandela believed that education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world. Our children have the potential to excel in society if they have a quality education foundation. 

At Nal’ibali we believe we all have a role to play in ensuring that children have access to educational material written in their mother tongue, as this can have a positive impact on their performance as learners, as well develop their confidence. 

Even in a democratic South Africa, barriers still exist that prevent many children from accessing educational material, be it at school or in the home.  With your help, we’d like to honour and celebrate individuals and organisations who are working tirelessly to remove these barriers. 

Who are we looking for?

It can be a person who feeds children out of his/her own pocket or an organisation that supports children’s learning experiences.  Any individuals or organisations working in one of the following fields are invited to enter: 

Compassion
Any person or organisation that has sacrificed their time or resources to ensure that children can live in environments that are conducive to them being excellent learners. 

Activism

Any person or organisation that has made a call to inspire their community or the country at large to bring about change with respect to education and perceptions on reading, in the country. 

Service

Any person or organisation working to ensure that children are not denied their rights to education.
 

Identity

Any person or organisation working to ensure that African cultures and languages are represented in the literacy/education space, with specific reference to children. 

 
How to submit your nomination
 
Step 1: 
 
Tell us why you believe the person or organisation you are nominating should be considered. In your description, please mention the category you are nominating the person for. 
 
If you are nominating yourself, tell us why you should be considered. In your description, please mention the category you are nominating yourself for. 
 
Step 2: 
 
Attach a hi-res image of the nominee or yourself. 
 
Step 3: 
Send your nominee’s name, contact telephone number and hi-res image to info@nalibali.org 
 
Checklist
 
Make sure that you have included the following in your submission:
1. Nominee’s name, surname, location, age, and contact telephone number.
2. Hi-res image of the nominee.
3. Keep your description to a maximum of 200 words.
Entries to be submitted by 18 July 2018. 
 
67 people will be profiled on our social media platforms and 3 of the 67 will win shopping vouchers worth R2000.
