Nal'ibali partners with Takalani Sesame to launch the Takalani Sesame Literacy Month Festival

Nal'ibali is thrilled to partner with Takalani Sesame on launching the inaugural Takalani Sesame Play Festival series, hosted in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Education and other key stakeholders in the early childhood development (ECD) sector. Organisations involved in supporting this initiative include the Seriti Institute and the Lego Foundation among others. The purpose of these festivals is to highlight the vital role that parents and caregivers play in supporting children's learning through play at home.

Play is recognised as an important means for developing lifelong skills in a fun, engaging manner. By facilitating play at home, families can foster critical competencies that serve children well as they enter formal schooling. The festivals will also help to explore how playful learning holistically helps children develop, thus setting them up for success in Grade R or Grade 1.A well-rounded, balanced approach to developing cognitive, physical, social, and emotional abilities through play lays an important foundation for future academic achievement and healthy adjustment. The first of these Takalani Sesame Play Festivals was held in Gauteng Province on September 13th. This inaugural event marks the starting point for an impactful collaboration focused on optimising early childhood experiences and outcomes through collaborative support for play-based learning.
