Nal'ibali Eastern Cape successfully brought together the EC Department of Education, libraries, AB Xuma Local Municipality, Engcobo schools, and parents to celebrate World Read Aloud Day 2025. The event, which included a read-aloud session by the mayor of AB Xuma Local Municipality and learners from various schools in Engcobo, story activities, and a dramatisation of the Nal'ibali WRAD 2025 special story 'What is that?' served as a reminder that literacy in South Africa can be improved via collaboration between various organisations and the government.
Nal'ibali spoke to A.B. Xuma Local Municipality Mayor Siyabulela Zangqa, parents Nolundi Tsembeyi and Nolwando Gcanga, and Ethembeni Primary School Grade 7 learner Zizo Khumbani about the impact of the Nal'ibali World Read Aloud Day 2025 event in Engcobo, Eastern Cape. WATCH what they said below.
