Nal’ibali, together with community partners, invites members of the media to attend the 2026 International Day of Families celebration taking place at Poortjie Library.
The event aims to promote family literacy, storytelling, and reading for enjoyment while encouraging parents, caregivers, and communities to create positive reading experiences for children.
WHAT: International Day of Families celebration featuring storytelling sessions, read-aloud activities, literacy engagement, and community participation.
WHO: Hosted by Nal’ibali in partnership with children, parents, caregivers, literacy volunteers, library staff, educators, and community stakeholders, bringing together a shared commitment to family literacy and reading for enjoyment.

WHERE: Poortjie Library, located at the Poortjie Community Centre near Grasmere, Region G, Johannesburg.
WHY: To highlight the important role families play in children’s literacy development, emotional wellbeing, and learning through storytelling and reading together.
