Early one rainy morning, David woke up to the sound of “miaow, miaow, miaow” outside his bedroom window. He ran and woke up his dad and together they went outside to look. They saw a tiny, thin, black kitten hiding up a tree.

“She looks very scared and weak,” said David.

The kitten looked at David and miaowed even louder.

“I think she might be hurt,” said David’s dad. “Let’s get the ladder and…”
